The various strategies and tools introduced in the Creating Calm workbooks were drawn from the available evidence and include cognitive behavioral and strengths-based interventions which have been linked to recidivism outcomes and reductions in violence when delivered in a group. The men's workbook was piloted with a small number of males who were incarcerated and who had a history of violence. They completed the workbook independently. In follow-up interviews, they reported a variety of short-term results (e.g., increased awareness of triggers and use of self-regulation strategies). However, there currently is no research demonstrating the long-term impact of these workbooks.
