Each Carey Guide was developed for use with both youth and adults. In this way, the material and examples are intended to be “age neutral.” Our assumption is that the tools in the Guides will work best with people who are age 15 (developmentally) or older, up through adulthood. Further experience may demonstrate whether younger developmental age groups can also benefit from the Guides.
The same is true for the BITS. The BITS and Guides were written at a sixth grade reading level; however, developmentally speaking, they may work best with people 15 and older.
